Liverpool fans have hit out at striker Darwin Nunez after spotting what he did immediately after the 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

In a thrilling clash at Anfield, Premier League leaders Liverpool drew 2-2 with long-term rivals United on Sunday afternoon.

A goal from United defender Lisandro Martinez gave the visitors the lead, before Liverpool's Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah hit back, but the hosts couldn't hold on to their lead as rising star Amad Diallo scored a late equaliser to split the points.

And in the wake of the frustrating result for Liverpool fans, they have taken to social media to criticise striker Nunez for one thing that he did as he left the pitch on Sunday.

After a series of disappointing performances this season, Nunez was not named in the starting lineup for the match, but came on as a substitue in the 60th minute.

Following the full-time whistle, the Uruguayan swapped shirts with national teammate Manuel Ugarte and then was spotted making heart signs at the crowd as he came off of the pitch.

And some fans were not happy with his actions, with one sharing the clip on X, writing: "Nunez at full time, read the room ffs."

Another fan posting the clip on social media added: "I've been laughing at this nonstop. Brother played s***, got himself suspended (for no reason), doing hearts after the game and holding a united shirt i genuinely can't support him anymore man."

However, not all fans felt the same about the 25-year-old's behaviour, with some pointing out that Nunez wasn't the only player to do this and arguing that he regularly puts up heart signs at the end of Liverpool games to show love for his family.

Reacting to the clip, one fan wrote: "There was no need to clip the video like this. Many players and the manager were doing the same towards their families."

While one pointed out: "Does the heart to his family at the end of every game nothing wrong with it."

Nunez will be absent for Liverpool's upcoming top of the table clash with Nottingham Forest next weekend after receiving a one-game suspension for his fifth yellow card of the season, earned due to a reckless challenge on United defender Matthijs de Ligt.
