Liverpool fans feel Cody Gakpo may have aimed a slight dig at Jude Bellingham in his Instagram post.

Dutchman Gakpo started on the bench for Liverpool's UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

With 68 minutes on the clock, Gakpo was introduced as he replaced Darwin Nunez.

Less than 10 minutes later, the 25-year-old netted to seal a vital 2-0 win for the Reds.

Taking to Instagram after the game, the Dutch forward posted a series of pictures from the match, the first being of him standing next to Madrid star Bellingham.

The caption read: "James 4:6. God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble."

Reacting on social media, some fans felt Gakpo had fired a shot at Bellingham, one said: "Jesus Christ Cody."

Another tweeted: "Cooked him omd."

A third fan added: "Gakpo and Liverpool humbling Bellingham. This picture is so cold."

Someone else wrote: "Bellingham and Gakpo having a beef wasnt in my 2024 bingo card."

A fifth commented: "GAKPO COOKED BELLINGHAM!"

Another fan said: "I’m trying to figure out what Bellingham did to Gakpo or Liverpool in general to be told on like that."

Speaking after the match, Bellingham said: "They were more up for it than us to be honest. It's a bad result against the best-performing team in Europe. It's no disgrace to come here and lose but we are disappointed in the way how we performed.

"From the first minute, they took control of the game. We never really maximised the spells we had in possession. When we got the ball back we tried to force a counter-attack a few too many times."

He added: "We turned it over so much that they managed to keep control. Defensively they kept us in a place where we couldn't really harm them as much."

Liverpool will be back in action this weekend when they take on Manchester City in what is billed as a mouth-watering Premier League clash at Anfield.
