A top Liverpool star could miss their crucial Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain after it's been reported he missed training.

Off the back of their massive Premier League wins over both Manchester City and Newcastle United, Liverpool face a tough match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Fans of the Premier League leaders will no doubt feel that they've been hard done by as, despite finishing top of the Champions League group stage, they were drawn against the French champions in the round of 16.

And now, Liverpool have been dealt another massive blow as it appears they are set to be without one of their most important players for the match.

Cody Gakpo is just one of several players in the Liverpool squad who is enjoying his best season in a Liverpool shirt under new manager Arne Slot, scoring eight goals and assisting three in the Premier League this season.

However, it appears that he will be absent for the trip to the Parc de Princes this week, as top Liverpool journalist David Lynch has revealed the the Dutchman did not appear in training ahead of the match on Tuesday.

Gakpo missed both of Liverpool's matches against Wolves and Aston Villa with a knock, but came off of the bench in the wins over City and Newcastle, leading many fans to expect he would be in contention to start midweek.

Fans will hope that the apparent setback will not rule the 25-year-old for long as Liverpool enter a massive two weeks that sees them face PSG twice, with a Premier League match against Southampton in the middle.

Shortly after the second leg against the French giants, Liverpool will travel to Wembley for their biggest game of the season yet, as they look to defend the Carabao Cup in the 2025 final against Newcastle.

Thankfully for Liverpool fans, Gakpo was spotted arriving at the AXA training centre on Tuesday and is believed to be taking part in an individual training programme, suggesting he could yet be fit for the cup final next week

Defenders Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez were also absent from training on Tuesday, with the former sidelined with what is believed to be a minor injury, while Gomez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury.
