This week sees one of the most anticipated fixtures of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League come to pass as Liverpool take on Real Madrid at Anfield.

On Tuesday November 4, the European heavyweights go head to head on Matchday 4, 12 months after The Reds triumphed against their Spanish rivals for the first time in eight games.

And fans can stream the game for free on Prime Video, who will be showing the match to anyone who signs up to their 30-day trial free of charge - plus existing Prime members, of course.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have won 15 out of the last 18 games, and only lost one of their last nine meetings against Liverpool - so they're likely to look confident on the pitch.

It was announced on Monday that the two sides have been banned from playing each other at Anfield in next season's group stage due to a little-known UEFA regulation.

So, what time does the match kick off, and where can you watch it for free? Find out everything you need to know below.

  • Tottenham Hotspur v Copenhagen: Tuesday, 4 November
  • Manchester City v Bayer Leverkusen: Tuesday, 25 November

What’s happened to the Champions League format?

In October 2025, UEFA announced that it will introduce a new Champions League format for the 2027/28 season.

As per the Daily Mail, the opening game of European football's competition is set to include an opening ceremony as part of a new commercial strategy.

Following the opening fixture on the Tuesday night, the rest of the action will take place across Wednesday and Thursday.

It's the second revamp in recent years, as the League Phase format was introduced last season.
