Mohamed Salah knocked off top spot of most popular Liverpool shirts by summer signing

Mohamed Salah is no longer the most popular name on the back of Liverpool shirts.

Since joining the club back in 2017 for a reported fee of £43 million, Salah has gone on to become Liverpool’s talisman.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Salah also developed into one of the world’s finest players.

Over the last two years, Salah was the best-selling name and number on the back of Liverpool fans’ shirts.

However, as Liverpool revealed the latest top 10, Salah is no longer at the top.

The ‘Egyptian King’ has been replaced by Liverpool’s summer signing Dominik Szoboszlai, who has already made a huge impact amongst the Reds faithful.

Hungarian midfielder Szoboszlai joined Liverpool from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig after the Anfield club triggered the £60 million release clause in his contract.

Another new signing, Alexis Mac Allister was ranked in third place in Liverpool’s top 10 most popular shirts. With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez completing the top five.

Luis Diaz was sixth, goalkeeper Alisson Becker seventh, new club captain Virgil van Dijk eighth, Cody Gakpo ninth and Andy Robertson in 10th place.

Throughout the summer transfer window, Salah was heavily linked with a move away from Anfield.

It was widely reported that Saudi Professional League side Al Ittihad were seriously interested in bringing the 31-year-old to their club.

However, Liverpool stood firm and rejected all offers that came their way.

Looking ahead to the January window, it has been claimed that Al Ittihad could reignite their interest.

With that, Liverpool have been linked players like Leroy Sane, Take Kubo, Jarrod Bowen and Raphinha as they search for a potential replacement for Salah.
