Lionel Messi has been savagely trolled by Atlanta United after Inter Miami fell to a heavy defeat.

On Saturday night, Inter Miami faced Atlanta in the MLS without Messi, who picked up a slight injury whilst on international duty with Argentina.

Spanish veteran Jordi Alba was also missing as Inter Miami suffered their first defeat in 13 matches.

Goals from Tristan Muyumba, Brooks Lennon, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Tyler Wolff and an own goal from Kamal Miller sealed a huge 5-2 win for Atlanta.

Leonardo Campana was the scorer for Inter Miami as he netted a brace.

On the back of their victory, Atalanta took to social media to aim a cheeky dig towards Messi.

Last week, Messi made headlines after he posted a video of his pizza order on his social media accounts.

The pizza seemed to only have tomatoes on without any sauce.

Therefore, Atlanta edited a picture of the pizza and made the tomatoes into an ‘L’ for loss.

The caption read: “Acá tienen su pizza para el viaje.” Which translates to: “Here you have your pizza for the trip.”

Since Messi made the shock decision to leave European football by ditching Paris Saint Germain for Inter Miami, the Argentine legend has been in fine form.

So far, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has made 11 appearances across all competitions for the Miami-based side, scoring 11 goals and assisting five.

Inter Miami will be back in MLS action on Thursday as they take on Toronto at the DRV PNK Stadium.
