Kylian Mbappe made a brutal comment after beating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to a landmark goal record in France's 14-0 win over Gibraltar.

Didier Deschamps' side ran riot against the nation ranked 198th in the world, and showed no mercy after Gibraltar had a player sent off on 18 minutes.

The visitors were already 3-0 down by that point, with an own goal from Ethan Santos - the player who was later sent off - opening the scoring.

Marcus Thuram and Warren Zaire-Emery got on the scoresheet, whilst Kylian Mbappe netted from the penalty spot.

Three more players scored before half time, with Adrien Rabiot making it 8-0 on 63 minutes.

Prior to the midfielder's goal, Gibraltar would have had hopes on keeping the scoreline below 10, but the floodgates soon opened and France plundered in another six goals before full time.

Overall, there were nine goalscorers in the match, with Olivier Giroud coming off the bench and scoring a brace in the final minutes of the game.

And Mbappe ended up scoring a hat-trick and providing three assists in an eventful individual display.

The France icon also brought up a historic landmark during the game. He netted his 300th career goal - reaching the figure faster than both Messi and Ronaldo.

After the game, Mbappe gave a brutal comment in his post-match interview - although his mind was firmly focused on the game that had just been played.

When asked about the nine France goalscorers in the 14-0 win, Mbappe interjected: "There were 10 - 10 with the Gibraltar player [own goal]."

Interviewer: “There were 9 goalscorers right?”

At age 24, Mbappe has scored more goals than Messi (279) and Ronaldo (160) scored by the same age.

But the forward is behind Pele in that ranking, with the Brazilian legend having netted an incredible 440 goals by the age of 24.
