Kai Havertz is currently playing as a LEFT-BACK for Germany in a radical change, with Julian Nagelsmann explaining his thinking.

Germany are in action against Turkey in a friendly match ahead of next summer's European Championship.

Nagelsmann will lead the Germans on home soil as they look to win their first Euros title since 1996 when they beat Czech Republic in England.

Ahead of Euro 2024, Nagelsmann has a few friendlies on deck to experiment with prior to the tournament kicking off.

And he's done exactly that, having deployed Havertz at LEFT-BACK.

The Arsenal star is playing as a left-back alongside centre-back Antonio Rudiger.

It's claimed he will have a 'very attacking role' when he is in possession of the ball and that seems to be the case as he opened the scoring in the fifth minute.

Speaking before kick-off, the former Bayern Munich boss explained the reasoning behind Havertz playing at left-back.

"Kai won't always be in this position. I have a great idea, he's an exceptionally good footballer," he said.

"This is a very good option. He won't always play as a classic left-back."

Needless to say, fans online couldn't get enough of Havertz's position change.

One X user wrote: "Kai Havertz has played as a winger, striker, false 9, midfielder and still they don't know his position. Tonight he's playing as a LB."

A second tweeted: "Kai Havertz playing left back has to be the funniest thing I’ve heard all year."

A third added: "Kai Havertz starting as a left back. Interesting."

A fourth said: "Kai Havertz playing LB for Germany ? Please tell me this is a windup."

Another commented: "KAI HAVERTZ HAS SCORED AS A LEFT BACKKKK WTFFFFFF!!!!!"

Are you watching, Mikel Arteta...?
