Fans have been comparing the teams that Jurgen Klopp and Mikel Arteta inherited when they first joined Liverpool and Arsenal to see who had the tougher start.

Back in 2015, Klopp was appointed as Liverpool manager after Brendan Rodgers was sacked on the back of a poor run of form.

Since then, Liverpool have gone on to win every major trophy possible including the Champions League and Premier League.

This season, the Anfield club have had a promising start as they currently sit top of the Premier League table.

Arteta meanwhile, was drafted in to replace Unai Emery. The former Gunners midfielder won the FA Cup during his first season in charge.

Arsenal are now challenging for the Premier League under the guidance of Arteta.

Now, fans have been debating on social media about which manager had the tougher start.

Arteta’s first team included the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and David Luiz.

In Klopp’s first Liverpool XI, he named the liked of Emre Can, Philippe Coutinho, Alberto Moreno and Divock Origi.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Liverpool’s was worse quality wise but Arsenal’s was a more unhealthy, ageing dressing room.

“Considering Arteta took over during Covid and couldn’t spend for 18 months I don’t think it’s a stick to bash either with. Both have done very good jobs.”

Another tweeted: “It’s obviously Klopp. The team you showed won Arsenal an FA Cup 6 months after he inherited it.”

A third fan added: “Klopp inherited a poorer squad. Arteta inherited a poorer dressing room. Both have done a fantastic job, imo.”

Someone else wrote: “Arsenal had a better football team but there was so many off field issue that made Arteta’s job harder.”

A fifth commented: “I'd say Klopp just. Arsenal had a few very quality players but I look at Klopps XI and just don't see anyone that good really.”
