Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho copped criticism from his own fans for what he did during his press conference after losing to Rangers.

On Thursday night, Fenerbahce welcomed Scottish Premier League side Rangers to the Sukru Saracoglu in Istanbul for a mouth-watering Europa League round of 16 tie.

Despite the hostile atmosphere, Rangers produced a brilliant performance as a brace from Vaclav Cerny plus a goal from Cyriel Dessers sealed a vital 3-1 win. Alexander Djiku was the scorer for the hosts.

Rangers will now have a two-goal advantage to defend when the second leg takes place at Ibrox next week.

After the match, Mourinho was criticised after a clip from his press conference went viral.

As a journalist was asking a question, the Portuguese appeared to frown before pretending to fall asleep with his head in his hands. You can watch the footage below.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "This is quite disrespectful IMO. The question is fair, his sub decisions were... curious to say the least."

Another commented: "Disrespectfull. Classic Mourinho behaviour. This types of thing looks wayy worse when you lose."

A third fan added: "Fenerbahçe fans, doesn’t this man’s disrespectful attitude towards our people bother you as well?"

Someone else wrote: "I like Mou a lot, but come on man, you don't get to pull these silly moves after a crushing defeat."

Speaking about the match, Mourinho said: "For me, I have to say that we deserved a punishment of this result. But if someone wants to ask me if it's over, no, I don't think it's over.

"The only thing I tell this is don't celebrate too much, because there is a second match to play, that's my only advice."

He continued: "If they celebrate after the second match I will congratulate them but now calm down because it's not over."

The second leg between Fenerbahce and Rangers will take place at Ibrox on March 13.
