Joey Barton has been arrested following an alleged incident at a golf club on Sunday.
According to a new report from Mike Keegan in the Daily Mail, Barton is one of two men detained in custody on suspicion of wounding amid an altercation at a golf club in Huyton, Merseyside.
On Sunday, one man was taken to hospital for assessments on injuries suffered to his face and ribs. Emergency services had been called to the incident at 9pm.
The report claims that a disagreement began in the clubhouse and there is a suggestion that former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder Barton may have been acting in self-defence, with a weapon allegedly produced from outside of the building.
