Fans think Jamie Carragher ‘went full Gary Neville’ during Chelsea’s 4-4 draw vs Man City

Fans think Jamie Carragher ‘went full Gary Neville’ during Chelsea’s 4-4 draw vs Man City

Chelsea and Manchester City played out a Premier League classic on Sunday afternoon

Fans think Jamie Carragher went full Gary Neville during Chelsea’s pulsating clash against Manchester City.

On Sunday afternoon, Premier League leaders City were looking to extend their lead at the top of the table with a victory against Chelsea.

However, a late penalty from old boy Cole Palmer denied Pep Guardiola’s men all three points as the match ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson were the other scorers for Chelsea whilst Erling Haaland, Manuel Akanji and Rodri netted for the champions.

During the match, fans watching on Sky Sports felt Carragher channelled his inner Neville with the noises he made.

Neville has built up a reputation for making noises during his commentary and Carragher did the same on Sunday afternoon.

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “Carragher is worse than Neville for groaning noises every single time anything whatsoever happens... Sky need to have a word.”

Another tweeted: “Jamie Carragher back to copying Gary Neville on co-commentary.making stupid exaggerated noises.”

A third fan added: “By the end of that game, Carragher was doing the Gary Neville thing where he gives up commentary and just makes noises.”

Someone else wrote: “Jamie Carragher going full Neville there, no analysis, just noise.”

Carragher was critical of VAR after City were awarded a controversial penalty in the first half after a tussle between Haaland and Marc Cucurella.

The former Liverpool defender said: “No this isn't right. All about the back-post. No this is not right, not the right decision. The var have looked at it and confirmed to Taylor to give a penalty they were looking at the end of the tussle, have to look at the start of it.

“The reason Haaland gets ahead is he pulls Cucurella's shirt. I think that's very harsh on Chelsea.”

On the back of the thrilling draw, City head into the latest international break with a one-point lead over second-placed Liverpool, with the top two teams set to face each other on November 25.
