Israel's Saied Abu Farchi sent off in Nations League clash against Austria for goal celebration

Israel forward Saied Abu Farchi was sent off after scoring Israel's equaliser in their Nations League match against Austria, with reports claiming his goal celebration led to the dismissal.

The 20-year-old, who plays his club football for Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, headed home in the 55th minute of Thursday's Group B clash at the Raiffeisen Arena, Linz.

Moments after finding the net, Abu Farchi celebrated by grabbing the corner flag and, according to Reuters, he made a gun-firing gesture with it - a scene that soon went viral on social media.

Bulgarian referee Martin Margaritov proceeded to show Abu Farchi a second yellow card for his actions. As seen in the footage below, the striker looked perplexed by the decision to award him a red.

It was a turning point in the match for 10-man Israel, who went on to suffer a 3-1 defeat after late goals from Phillipp Mwene and Sasa Kalajdzic sealed all three points for hosts Austria.
