Inter Milan's Alessandro Bastoni investigated in underage prostitution probe

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is allegedly under investigation by Italian police as part of a probe into child prostitution.

Bastoni, 27, is reportedly under investigation by prosecutors in Milan as part of an inquiry into underage prostitution in Italy.

He is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan prosecutor’s office is investigating an “escort agency” in the city.

The report claims that the agency, named Ma.De escort agency, hosts parties and events that entertain footballers and other VIPs.

As it stands, Bastoni is the only footballer believed to be under investigation as part of the probe into the agency.

According to the documents, the alleged crime concerns an encounter in June 2020 between the Italy international and the girl, who at the time was 17.

The age of consent in Italy is 18 years old, and Bastoni will reportedly be brought in for questioning in the coming days.

Investigators are claim to have a record of contact in chat messages, one reportedly dating to June 2020, as evidence of the relationship.

However, when questioned as a witness, the woman reportedly denied having a relationship with Bastoni.

As part of the investigation, Italian police have reportedly called on Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori alongside Daniel Maldini and Kevin Bonifazi solely as witnesses.

It is important to note that none of the three players are under investigation for crimes and are only being called on to provide further information to aid the investigation.

"My client denies having had any relationship with a girl he knew was underage," Salvatore Scuto, the lawyer representing Alessandro Bastoni in the investigation reportedly told Italian news agency Agenzia Giornalistica Italia.

"The summons to appear on Friday, July 3rd, is incomplete; we know nothing about the investigation. We will decide whether or not to respond to the prosecutors."

No charges have been brought against Bastoni at this stage.

Bastoni has played for Inter Milan since 2017, with loan spells with Atalanta and Parma.

Recently, he has been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid to work under new manager Jose Mourinho.
