Harry Kane delivered a defiant 10-word message to fans after England’s dismal 0-0 draw against Slovenia.

On Tuesday night, Gareth Southgate’s team knew a victory would secure their place in the next round of Euro 2024 as winners of Group C.

However, the Three Lions produced a lacklustre display as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Slovenia at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.

Despite drawing, England still went through as group winners after Denmark and Serbia also played out a stalemate.

After the match, England were heavily criticised after yet another poor display. So far in the tournament, Southgate’s men have only managed to score two goals across three matches.

Taking to social media, England captain Kane posted a defiant 10-word message to fans.

He wrote: “Top of the group. Our best is still to come…”

Speaking after the match, Kane said: “That was the aim before the tournament, to come top of the group and control our own destiny.

“Tonight was a tough game. I thought we played a lot better than the other two games, a lot more energy and better on the ball. We just couldn't find that final ball and final finish.”

He added: “It was a tough game, all of these games are going to be difficult now. We recover well, we enjoy that we're top of the group and we look forward to the next one.”

Meanwhile, Southgate said: “I understand the narrative towards me and that's better for the team than it being towards them.

“But it is creating an unusual environment to operate in. I've not seen any other team qualify and receive similar. I understand it, I'm not going to back away from it, but I'm very proud of the players for how they're operating within it.”

England are set to return to action on Sunday evening, with the Netherlands the most likely opponents in the round of 16.
