Gary Lineker's answer surprises everyone after being asked to name 'worst person he's ever worked with'

Lineker took a few seconds to come up with his response.

Gary Lineker stunned fans with his answer when asked to name the 'worst person he's worked with'.

Lineker has hosted Match of the Day continuously since 1999, with the 64-year-old set to step down from the role at the end of the current season to be replaced by the trio of Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates on a rotational basis.

The England legend has also hosted Olympics, Commonwealth Games and golf coverage for the BBC, and has worked on Champions League and Premier League coverage for BT Sport (now TNT Sports).

Recently, Lineker filmed an episode of ITV's 'The Assembly', where a special guest celebrity is interviewed by a group of 30 people who are autistic, neurodivergent and/or learning disabled.

Series one has already featured actors Danny Dyer and David Tennant, as well as singer Jade Thirlwall, with Lineker's episode to be broadcast this week.

One of the interviewers asked the Tottenham and Leicester legend who was the 'absolute worst' person he has worked with during his broadcasting career.

And while he didn't specifically name someone he had worked with, Lineker replied: "It's a shame I haven't worked with Piers Morgan, isn't it?"

That answer prompted laughter from the entire room - though Lineker's answer will almost certainly have been in jest, seen as himself and Morgan share various back-and-forths on Twitter.

And after watching the clip, Morgan replied: "It *is* a shame Jugs - because it deprived me of the chance to fire you for inappropriate wokeism in the workplace."

In response to Morgan's comment, one Twitter user said: "I wondered how long it would take you to respond to this."

Another wrote: "This one really hurt innit?"

A third added: "By commenting he's living in your head again."

And a fourth asked: "Is Gary Lineker really woke though or is he just a person that cares about more than his own self!"
