Gareth Bale shares the wildest rumour he's ever heard about himself and his answer is going viral

The former Real Madrid and Spurs winger made the claim during a recent interview.

Gareth Bale has opened up on the wildest rumour he's ever heard about himself.

The former Spurs and Real Madrid winger, who announced his retirement last year following an illustrious 18-year career, took part in a Q&A session with TNT Sports ahead of the Champions League final.

Here, he touched on a number of subjects, including the footballing moment he stills thinks about and the most iconic thing someone said to him on the pitch, featuring former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Bale also shared his most moment memorable dressing room moment, but the answer that picked up the most traction online involved another North London team; Arsenal.

As you can see from the footage above, Bale recalled a rumour linking him with a move to Arsenal as the "wildest" rumour he's ever heard about himself.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the Welshman on numerous occasions.

In fact, a report from Spanish publication Fichajes said Arsenal were contemplating a move at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

But after months of speculation, Bale eventually decided to join MLS side Los Angeles FC on a 12-month deal.

Back in 2019, when Bale was being linked with a move away from Real Madrid, former Arsenal winger Robert Pires urged his former club to make a surprise move for the former Spurs man.

"I think coming back to the Premier League is the most logical step for Gareth Bale," he told bwin at the time.

"There’s an assumption that he would go back to Tottenham, but I would encourage Arsenal to open the door to the Emirates for him.

"I know Tottenham fans would not be happy, but Bale would be very welcome at Arsenal. I hope the club tries to see if it is an option this summer."

It's safe to say Bale had no interest in joining Spurs' local rivals, even if he did enjoy watching them as a kid.

Speaking on Sky show A League of their Own, Bale was asked if he would ever consider joining Arsenal. “No. Never. Impossible," he said.
