Fantasy Premier League have announced position changes to 11 different players ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The launch of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is imminent, as new features and alterations were announced on Monday afternoon.

One of the biggest changes was FPL managers being able to see their squad's appearance points, goals, assists and clean sheets live, allowing fans to check just how good, or bad, a goal can be for their team.

Crucially, managers will also see their mini-league rank and overall position move in real time, improving the app's overall experience.

The addition of a live rank has been complemented by tweaks to the Bonus Points System (BPS). Firstly, players are no longer punished for being tackled.

In previous seasons, players were handed a BPS reduction of -1 every time they were dispossessed. That is no longer the case, and the Premier League's dribble demons - notably Jeremy Doku and Morgan Rogers - will be the ones most positively impacted by this tweak.

On the flip side, FPL have slightly altered the DEFCON points system in response to fan feedback, making it harder for DEFCON magnets to get bonus points. A player will now earn 1 BPS for every three CBIs (clearances, blocks, interceptions), instead of getting 1 BPS for every two CBIs.

Ahead of the Premier League season kicking off on August 21 when Arsenal host newly-promoted Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium, FPL have also announced position changes to several players.

Junior Kroupi, Patrick Dorgu and Omar Marmoush are among the big names - 11 in total - who have been handed a change of position in Fantasy this season.

Kroupi has been reclassified as a number 10 instead of a forward after mainly featuring behind Evanilson during Bournemouth's record-breaking campaign last term, and Dorgu has switched from a defender to a midfielder after playing in an advanced role under Michael Carrick in 2025/26.

Marmoush's position has changed from a midfielder to a forward after being mainly utilised as a centre-forward by Pep Guardiola in his final campaign in charge, and he will continue to be drip-fed minutes behind Erling Haaland.

FPL position changes for 2026/27 in full

  • Myles Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal) - new position: MID, old position: DEF
  • Lamare Bogarde (Aston Villa) - new position: MID, old position: DEF
  • Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth) - new position: FWD, old position: MID
  • Keane Lewis-Potter (Brentford) - new position: MID, old position: DEF
  • Mats Wieffer (Brighton) - new position: DEF, old position: MID
  • Georginio Rutter (Brighton) - new position: FWD, old position: MID
  • Rio Cardines (Crystal Palace) - new position: DEF, old position: MID
  • Ryan Sessegnon (Fulham) - new position: DEF, old position: MID
  • Omar Marmoush (Manchester City) - new position: FWD, old position: MID
  • Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United) - new position: MID, old position: DEF
  • Eric Moreira (Nottingham Forest) - new position: DEF, old position: MID

Other notable switches include Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has moved from defender to a midfielder, with Mats Wieffer making the opposite move.

And now that position alterations are confirmed, managers are patiently waiting for player price changes before the game is officially open to play.

Last year, FPL went live on July 21, and although the World Cup has only just concluded, the app could launch later this week.
