Fans can't quite believe what's been engraved on the FIFA Club World Cup trophy.

This week, the newly revamped Club World Cup will kick off with Al Ahly taking on Inter Miami at the Hard Rock Stadium.

The new format will see 32 teams battle to win the tournament.

European powerhouses such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich are all involved.

Meanwhile, clubs like Al Hilal, Fluminense, Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate will look to cause an upset.

Ahead of the tournament, the new trophy was first unveiled last year by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The gold-plated trophy has been made by high-end jewellers Tiffany & Co. and it has been made in the shape of a circle with multiple spinning layers.

It was then spotted that Infantino's name was engraved on the trophy twice.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the first inscription stated: "Founding president, Gianni Infantino", followed by the 55-year-old's signature.

The second one read: "We are witness to a new age. The golden era of club football: the era of the FIFA Club World Cup. The pinnacle of all club competitions. Inspired by the FIFA president Gianni Infantino."

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "He probably end up doing the trophy lift himself with the winning team."

Another tweeted: "When can he be voted out?"

A third fan joked: "I too am extraordinary humble."

Someone else wrote: "He probably wants the cup to be named after him."

A fifth commented: "Ugly trophy for a stupid tournament."

Speaking about the competition, City boss Pep Guardiola said: "It’s a new one and that’s why its football, right?

"It’s not always the same style, it’s different visions, different types of players, that’s culture so that’s nice."

He added: "Normally whenever I start a competition for example like the Premier League, never do I start thinking ‘Oh, we are going to win etc.’

"So, one step at a time, try to play better than we played in the league, arrive in better conditions everyone and after we see."
