On Saturday evening, Lee Carsley took his Three Lions side to the Aviva Stadium to take on the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League.

It was the first time England have played since the disappointing Euro 2024 final defeat against Spain in Berlin, Germany, back in July.

The Three Lions took the lead with 11 minutes on the clock after Declan Rice smashed home from close range.

15 minutes later, it was 2-0 thanks to Jack Grealish, who finished off a fine England move involving the likes of Rice, Bukayo Saka and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In the second half, England continued to control the match as they came away 2-0 winners.

Here is how we rated England’s players as Carsley tasted victory in his first match in charge.

Jordan Pickford - 6

Quiet match for England's undisputed number one goalkeeper, was largely a spectator.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 8

Back in his natural position, played a stunning pass in the build-up to England’s first goal and was very good on the ball as always.

Marc Guehi - 6

Solid display, continued his fine form from Euro 2024, was rarely troubled.

Harry Maguire - 6

A decent return to the England set-up for Maguire, who was strong in the air and aggressive on the ground

Levi Colwill - 6

Unfamiliar role but was solid, joined the attack in the odd occasion.

Declan Rice - 8

Scored the opener and assisted the second, broke up play very well. A commanding display from the Arsenal man.

Kobbie Mainoo - 7

Calm with the ball at his feet, a tidy display from the young man.

Jack Grealish - 7

Scored in the first half, looks a different player to when he plays for Manchester City. Replaced in the 76th minute.

Bukayo Saka - 7

A major threat on the right hand side, linked up well with Alexander-Arnold and Rice throughout the match.

Harry Kane - 6

Not his finest performance but led the line well for the Three Lions.

Anthony Gordon - 7

Tireless performance from the Newcastle United man, constantly running in behind. Should've scored in the first half.

Morgan Gibbs-White - 6

Replaced Grealish in the 76th minute, got on the ball a couple of times. Played a fine ball for Saka in the closing stages but the Arsenal winger was denied.

Angel Gomes - 5

The surprise pick of Carsley first squad, the Lille man looked tidy in possession.

Eberechi Eze - 5

Came on for Gordon, not much time to do anything eye-catching.

John Stones - N/A

Brought on to sure things up in the 86th minute.

Jarrod Bowen - N/A

Replaced captain Harry Kane for a short cameo.
