People were left confused as Donald Trump addressed fans ahead of the official FIFA Club World Cup draw ceremony in Miami.

US President-elect Trump kicked off Thursday's Club World Cup ceremony as he delivered a video message to fans ahead of next year's revamped competition.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino sent it to Trump, who appeared to speak from his resident as he referenced his son's participation in 'soccer' as well as the growth of the sport in the US.

"His name is Gianni. He's the President, and I'm the President," he said, before talking up the tournament.

The 78-year-old also said he hopes to attend the Club World Cup, with Miami hosting the first game of the competition while New Jersey is set to stage the final.
