The Danish Cup final has been broadcast in a revolutionary new ‘Manager Mode’.

On Thursday Silkeborg edged past AGF 1-0 at Parken, Copenhagen, to claim only their second ever Danish Cup.

And the game has since generated enormous traction on social media, with it having been broadcast on television using a brand new ‘Manager Mode’.

The broadcast feature, available to viewers at home, featured player name bars, in-game formations and other statistics throughout the game.

Moreover, upon Oliver Sonne rifling in the game’s only goal, it was instantly revealed that his strike flew into the net at 54 miles-per-hour, or 87 kilometres an hour.

And fans on X, formally Twitter, have likened clips of the encounter to a game of Football Manager with some even calling for it to be introduced to the Premier League.

One person said: “Is this a sneak peek at the #FM25 match engine?”

A second person added: “I think having the team layout in the central panel is a great idea.”

A third wrote: “I cannot tell you how much this would help me with post-match pub conversation.”

Others were less positive about the feature, however, accusing it of contributing to the destruction of the game.

One person said: “This s*** is killing the game.”

A second wrote: “This is pretty sick but very unnecessary.”

Another said: “Leave it out will ya.”

A fourth added: “Needing players names is for casuals. Bin that. Not even convinced about the 2D pitch but at least it has some merit.”

It is unlikely that UK broadcasters will adopt the feature any time soon, but it provides an interesting insight into what football could look like on our screens in the long-term future.
