Cristiano Ronaldo has clinched another award ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Back in January, Ronaldo became the first big-name player from Europe to move to Saudi Arabia.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner left Premier League side Manchester United to sign for Saudi Professional League outfit Al Nassr.

During the summer transfer window, many more big-name players from Europe moved to Saudi Arabia, including the likes of Karim Benzema, Roberto Firmino, Neymar, Fabinho and N'Golo Kante.

Since his move to the Middle East, Ronaldo has been in fine form in front of goal.

In total, Ronaldo scored 54 goals in 59 matches, which is his best goal return in a single calendar year since 2017.

For Al Nassr, Ronaldo scored 34 goals in as many matches in the Saudi Professional League.

As a result of his impressive tally, Ronaldo is set to be named the winner of the Maradona Award for Best Goalscorer at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards 2023, which is set to take place later this month.

The awards ceremony is organised in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.

Ronaldo came out on top ahead of Mbappe, who scored 52 goals in 53 matches, Harry Kane, who notched up a tally of 52 in 57 and Haaland, who has 50 goals in 60 matches.

Aside from the Maradona Award, the Portuguese legend is set to take home the awards for Best Men’s Player, Best Middle East Player and Fans’ Favourite Player.

The awards are voted for by football fans around the world plus Globe Soccer’s Official Jury, which is made up of more than 30 key football figures including Iker Casillas, Francesco Totti, Luis Figo and Marcello Lippi are also involved in the final selection process.

The Dubai Globe Soccer Awards 2023 is set to be broadcast live around the world, with Saudi Arabia media outlet Saudi Sports Company(SSC) named as the official host broadcaster.
