Only one Football League side has never played at Wembley.

Crawley’s demolition of MK Dons over two legs in the League Two play-off semi-final means the Red Devils are set to play at Wembley for the first time in the history for the play-off final.

In turn, it now leaves just one club in the entire Football League to have never played at England’s national stadium - Accrington Stanley.

Accrington, who finished the campaign 17th in League Two, have come a whisker away from gracing the Wembley pitch.

The club reached the League Two play-off semi-finals in 2011 only to lose to Stevenage. That year, however, the play-off final was played at Old Trafford, due to the Champions League final being staged at the national stadium.

Accrington made the play-off semi-final once more in 2016, only to lose to AFC Wimbledon and miss out on a maiden trip to Wembley.

Indeed, even as a non-league side for decades before their formation in 1968, the Crown Ground outfit never visited the Old Wembley.

Meanwhile, Crawley are set to grace Wembley for the first time, have never played in a Football League play-off match before their 3-0 first-leg thumping of MK Dons.

They took that game by storm, with Crawley boss Scott Lindsey heaping praise on his side after their dream playoff debut.

Speaking to Sky Sports Lindsey said: "It's two halves of football over 90 minutes, rather than two lots of 45 minutes. We felt we wanted to attack this game aggressively, which we did.

"I'm really pleased with the goals. The first goal was a really good team goal where we played a really good passage of play; the second was a set piece, which we worked really hard on, and the third goal was another passage of play where we played some real intricate passes around the edge of the box before Darcy got in.

“I'm pleased with the goals and the way we played as well. I'll go away tomorrow, watch the game back and see how the land lies with what we're going to do."
