Chelsea fans feel manager Enzo Maresca has run out of patience with one player after spotting his reaction during the match against Newcastle United.

On Wednesday night, the Blues travelled to St. James’ Park looking to seal a place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.

However, it was a night to forget for Chelsea as a goal from Alexander Isak plus an own goal from Axel Disasi meant Maresca’s men fell to a 2-0 defeat.

During the match, a video of Maresca turning away after midfielder Enzo Fernandez gave the ball away went viral on social media.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Maresca's head is on Venus.”

Another tweeted: “Maresca has had enough of Enzo.”

A third fan added: “This is why Enzo is on the bench for PL matches.”

Someone else wrote: “What has happend to this man’s passing. Soon as he put that Argentina shirt on then it’s a whole different story.”

A fifth commented: “It seems Maresca has reached a breaking point with Enzo.”

Another fan said: “Maresca is done with Enzo, look at that turn lol.”

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Newcastle and England striker Alan Shearer said: “Good performance from Newcastle, who did the damage to Chelsea in the first half. The energy, the pressing, it was back to what these fans have gotten used to seeing under Eddie Howe.

“They had to defend in the second half, Chelsea missed a few really big chances, which helped. A win, the clean sheet, into the quarter-finals. A really positive night for Newcastle.”

He added: “Newcastle have done the damage in the first half and this has been a really good result for them. They have had to defend in the second half and rely on a bit of luck and poor finishing, but it is all about getting through.”
