Chelsea players involved in 'pathetic' penalty spat despite already being 4-0 ahead

Chelsea players involved in 'pathetic' penalty spat despite already being 4-0 ahead

The Chelsea players were involved in a bizarre argument.

Chelsea stars were involved in a "pathetic" argument over a penalty despite the fact that they were already 4-0 up against Everton.

Chelsea thrashed Everton on Monday night, with Cole Palmer running the show.

The 21-year-old completed a 16-minute hat-trick in the first half, producing yet another stunning performance.

Nicolas Jackson added a fourth before half-time, and Chelsea were handed the chance to make it five from the penalty spot when Palmer was fouled just after the hour mark.

Yet despite already cruising to victory, things turned spicy.

Noni Madueke stood over the penalty spot holding the ball, until captain Conor Gallagher walked over and told him to give the ball to Palmer.

Jackson then came charging in and demanded Madueke take the penalty, with Palmer pushing him away.

Jackson led Madueke away and Palmer ended converting the spot-kick for his fourth goal of the night.

The pair were both visibly angry when they reluctantly trotted over to celebrate Palmer's goal, although in fairness they did both offer their congratulations.

On X, one fan commented: "Grow up Jackson and Madueke, pathetic." Another fan described the incident as "embarrassing."

The incident hinted at tensions in the Chelsea dressing room, just one of many issues Pochettino has had to deal with this season.

The former of Palmer has not been an issue though; the England youngster has scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions this season since completing a £40 million move from Manchester City last summer.

Palmer has now scored 20 Premier League goals this term, placing him top of the scoring charts alongside former City team-mate Erling Haaland.

Palmer will go up against his former club when Chelsea and City meet at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
