Cole Palmer responded to Manchester United fans' disparaging chants about him.

On Thursday, Palmer put Chelsea's 2-0 up against United from the penalty spot after Antony clumsily fouled Marc Cucurella in the penalty box.

Palmer cooly sent Andre Onana the wrong way before wheeling away in celebration.

He also made sure while celebrating to respond to the travelling United faithful who had been giving him stick all game.

While running past the United support Palmer made a 'keep talking' gesture after sections of the away end were labelling him a "Manchester City reject". He then reverted to his traditional 'shivering' celebration.

Palmer, 21, has impressed since signing from City for an initial £40million in September last year.

Though the England international signed a seven-year deal with the option of a further 12 months, The Telegraph have claimed he will be offered a significant increase on his current £80,000-a-week salary.

So far his first 36 games for the Blues have yielded 17 goals and 12 assists.

Elsewhere, Conor Gallagher opened the scoring for Chelsea against United within the first ten minutes, converting Malo Gusto's deflected cross.

Palmer then went on to double Mauricio Pochettino's side's lead.

However, United, who had endured a dismal opening period, were gifted a goal after Moises Caicedo saw his square pass intercepted by Alejandro Garnacho, with the Argentine running through on goal and converting.

Then, Bruno Fernandes nodded Diogo Dalot's cross beyond Djordje Petrovic to level proceedings ahead of half-time.

United are desperate to claim three points, having fallen 11 points behind fourth placed Aston Villa ahead of kick off.

Meanwhile, Chelsea started the day in 12th, having endured another difficult campaign under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
