TNT Sports raid Sky Sports for key pundit as plans for new-look Champions League show revealed

TNT will have a new pundit in their ranks for Champions League coverage this season.

TNT Sports have swooped to secure the services of one Sky Sports' former football pundits.

Having secured the rights to the UEFA Champions League coverage yet again this season, TNT have been expected to shake up their panellists.

A new-look Goals Show Xtra programme will air for the first time on Tuesday bidding to provide a wide-ranging sweep on all of the European action.

Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal will all take to the pitch for the first time during the 2024/25 campaign this week, with the Gunners set to play on Thursday night in one of a number of changes for this season's tournament.

TNT have confirmed that Karen Carney has joined their new-look team to cover Europe's premier competition after her recent exit from Sky Sports in the summer.

The 37-year-old is a popular pundit having helped with the WSL's ongoing media coverage along with Premier League matches.

Having departed Sky earlier this year, Carney will be in TNT’s new Curve studio which is set to show goals from all three European competitions this season.

Owen Hargreaves, presenter Matt Smith and the panel, which includes Julien Laurens, James Horncastle, and Rafa Honigstein, will all accompany her.

Carney said: “I am thrilled to be joining the TNT Sports team and being involved in the UEFA club competitions.

"I’m really excited and can’t wait to get watching the games with you all.”

TNT will show 529 European matches in total this season, live and exclusively from the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

Carney announced she would be leaving Sky back in July with a candid post on social media.

It is unknown whether she will continue her work with ITV Sport, having featured across the broadcaster's Euro 2024 coverage.

A regular during Premier League coverage, the former Arsenal midfielder detailed the reasons for her exit.

"From being part of the WSL coverage and the Premier League, it’s been an unforgettable three years, but I have decided not to re-sign with Sky Sports," she said.

"Thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way.

"Now its time for a little break before the next chapter starts.

"I will keep you posted but watch this space."

TNT already houses a bumper selection of pundits who feature across their extensive football coverage.

These include Laura Woods, Ally McCoist, Reshmin Chowdhury, Owen Hargreaves and Rio Ferdinand.
