Fans are convinced Barcelona have produced a Franz Beckenbauer and Franco Baresi hybrid following their big win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca will take a one-goal advantage into next week's second-leg against PSG following their 3-2 victory on Wednesday.

Second-half substitute Andreas Christensen headed home his side's winner following Raphinha's brace.

Ousmane Dembele scored against his old team as Vitinha also netted for PSG.

Kylian Mbappe failed to get on the score-sheet as he was kept relatively quiet thanks to a dominant showing by La Masia graduate Pau Cubarsi.

Having made his Champions League debut against Napoli in the previous round, Xavi opted for Cubarsi from the start as the budding defender repaid his manager's faith with a stellar showing at the back.

The 17-year-old didn't look out of place as he stopped Mbappe from scoring and made a stunning tackle on the PSG superstar in the first-half.

By starting his team's clash, Cubarsi, who played like a veteran, became the youngest defender in Champions League history to start in a quarter-final match.

Fans on social media couldn't get enough of his performance as they showered him with high praise.

One X user wrote: "Cubarsi is a Beckenbauer x Baresi hybrid La Masia you’ve done it again."

A second tweeted: "Cubarsi was so good at youth level but the way he’s transitioned seamlessly to the first team is ridiculous. The top level of anticipation, composure and security on the ball, timed aggressions. Such an impressive half from him today. For only 17, what he’s doing is crazy."

A third added: "That Pau Cubarsi pass to Lewandowski to start the goal… my God this is a generational centre back."

A fourth said: "Cubarsi. When center-backs become the real game-changers."

Another commented: "It’s not Cubarsi against the elite. It is Cubarsi amongst it."
