Viewers tuning in for Aston Villa's Champions League with Bayern Munich received a huge surprise when the camera cut to a fan in the away end.

Unai Emery's side hosted Bayern in their first Champions League home game of the new campaign at a rocking Villa Park.

The action was fast and furious on the pitch and around 20 minutes into the game, the TNT Sports cameras cut to a supporter in the stands.

From a distance, the fan looked innocent and was seen fist pumping and chanting for his team.

But with the cameras on him for a matter of seconds, he appeared to snort a white powder that had been poured onto his wrist.

The director clearly tried to cut away in rapid fashion having realised what was being broadcasted but it was already too late.

Plenty of viewers had already spotted the fan's antics, which were as clear as day and was shown live and all around the world to millions.

And naturally fans erupted with reaction to the Tuesday night surprise.

One wrote: "This Bayern fan having a great night

A second followed up, saying: "Can tell the Bayern fans are enjoying the game anyway."

A third added: "This Bayern Munich fan getting stuck in."

Another commented: "TNT Sports cutting to a Bayern fan enjoying himself!"

A fifth posted: "Bayern fan on TNT getting sacked in the morning."

A seventh said: "Bayern fan caught in 4k."

A final user tweeted: "Bayern fan having a cheeky one."

Villa though they had gone 1-0 up in the game after Pau Torres heading home, only for VAR to correctly disallow the opener for an offside in the build-up.

The hosts had already felt aggrieved after Dayot Upamecano avoided what looked to be a clear red card when he brought down Ollie Watkins as he ran through.

The former RB Leipzig man was unpunished but received a yellow card minutes later for the same act.
