Erik Ten Hag had to be pulled away from fourth official by Bruno Fernandes during Arsenal friendly

Erik Ten Hag had to be pulled away from fourth official by Bruno Fernandes during Arsenal friendly

The new Man Utd captain is already doing his bit for the team and the manager.

Manchester United fans can't seem to get enough of their new captain Bruno Fernandes these days and now the Portuguese international has given them further cause for praise.

The Red Devils were in action on Saturday evening at a sold-out MetLife stadium to face last season's title challengers Arsenal, emerging with a 2-0 victory.

Goals from Jadon Sancho and captain Fernandes were enough for Ten Hag's side to see off the Gunners in normal time. The game also included a penalty shootout which was won by United.

Though Fernandes' goal was a familiar sight for most United fans, it was his actions in a brief moment that garnered even more plaudits.

A video of Fernandes and Ten Hag has gone viral since the game on Twitter and fans can't seem to get enough of it.

It shows Ten Hag having words with the fourth official and engaged in an intense rant at the referee, after the officials chose not to award his team a penalty close to half-time.

During this, Fernandes is seen approaching Ten Hag and dragging him away from the official for good and in doing so, calming the situation as a captain rightly should. It is clear that taking the armband and becoming the official club captain has instilled greater responsibility in him.

Fernandes took over the captaincy from England international Harry Maguire, who shared his disappointment at losing the role at the club.

The former Sporting Club midfielder was hand-picked by Ten Hag to take over from Maguire, having already captained the side on numerous occasions throughout the past season.

Fernandes' long-range finish was a classic from his repertoire of goals and set the tone for a largely dominant performance from United in front of a crowd of 82,262 in New York.

Ten Hag and co. are in action next against Wrexham as they look to make it four out of four to continue a perfect pre-season run in the States.
