Unai Emery involved in 'flare up' with Aston Villa star after seeing something he 'can't accept'

Unai Emery was spotted kicking off with one of his Aston Villa players during the 1-0 win over Fulham.

With just three matches left in the Premier League season for most clubs, the race for the five Champions League spots is heating up with six sides competing for just four spots.

Aston Villa took one step closer to taking one of the top five positions on Saturday afternoon after claiming a 1-0 win over Fulham at Villa Park.

But it wasn't all good for the midlands side as manager Emery was spotted clashing with one of his top players in the final moments of the nervy match.

A goal from midfielder Youri Tielemans was enough to take the villains up to 60 points, putting them level with both Chelsea and Nottingham Forest who are fifth and sixth respectively.

But this didn't stop Villa manager Emery from making his feelings about his side's performance known on the touchline midway through the second-half.

In the 53rd minute, Fulham came close to finding an equaliser as a cross from Alex Iwobi was found by teammate Harry Wilson, catching Villa defenders Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres completely off guard.

Although Wilson's effort has saved by Villa keeper Emi Martinez, it didn't stop Emery from kicking off at his defender on the touchline.

Commentating on the moment live on TNT Sports, Lucy Ward said: “Not happy at all, Unai Emery.

“Look at the area where Emery is. He’s absolutely fuming at his defence.”

Co-commentator Darren Fletcher laughed before revealing that Konsa, clearly annoyed at his manager's reaction, hit back at Emery as the pair were spotted arguing on the touchline.

Post-match, Emery was asked to explain what had happened between him and the Englishman, and it's clear he still wasn't happy.

"We spoke yesterday and this week how important it is to try to play & focus seriously in 90 minutes in our game plan, each one to feel comfortable. But if someone is relaxing a little bit, we are closer to losing," Emery told TNT Sports.

"When we lost some balls in the first half, in the dressing room I told them, ‘I can’t accept!’. I can’t accept sometimes how we were managing the match."
