Viktor Gyokeres was subject to a brutal chant from a fan while arriving at the Ballon d'Or ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on Monday evening.

Ousmane Dembele took home the top prize of the night ahead of Lamine Yamal after scoring 35 goals and providing 16 assists on the way to an iconic treble for the Parisians.

However, Yamal didn't leave empty-handed as he became the first player to win the KOPA trophy in back-to-back years, which celebrates the best under-21 player of the year.

Gyokeres was another of the night's winners, with the Arsenal man being voted as the world's best striker of 2025 (Gerd Muller Award).

Despite ending life in Lisbon in controversial fashion this summer, the Swedish international was quick to thank his former club during his acceptance speech.

"Thanks to everyone at Sporting who has made this possible," Gyokeres said.

"We had a fantastic season with both league and cup titles, and incredible memories that were created. Standing here tonight feels wonderful.

"I have always had a hunger to score goals and this is a nice recognition," he added.

Gyokeres will likely find his victory sweeter after the reception he received on the red carpet, after a Chelsea fan filmed himself mocking the striker as he arrived.

Footage shows a fully grown man chanting: "Champions of Europe, you’ll never sing that, CHELSEA, CHELSEA. CHELSEA."

Despite being in clear earshot, Gyokeres himself didn't react at all to the chant and instead signed autographs for fans in attendance.

Gyokeres has had a steady start to life in the Premier League, scoring three goals in his first five appearances for the club, including a brace against Leeds.

The 27-year-old finished in 15th in the overall Ballon d'Or standings, ahead of last year's runner-up Vinicius Jr in 15th.
