Jamie Carragher names two areas that could cost Arsenal the Premier League title despite Luton win

Carragher has spoken.

Jamie Carragher outlined two factors that could cost Arsenal the Premier League title this season after their dramatic 4-3 win over Luton on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta's side came from behind at Kenilworth Road to snatch victory, with Declan Rice's 97th-minute header ensuring they returned to north London with three points.

Given Liverpool's subsequent 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday, the win means Arsenal remain on top of the Premier League table after 14 games played.

After narrowly missing out on the title last season, the Gunners are again one of the favourites to lift the crown for what would be the first time in 20 years.

But speaking on The Overlap's Stick to Football, Carragher has given two reasons why Arteta's side will find it difficult to eventually go on and lift the Premier League title come May.

You can watch the clip below.

The former Liverpool defender claimed that the uncertainty over the goalkeeper position between Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya, as well as their reliance on last-minute goals in recent weeks, are both major issues.

He explained: "I think they have a decent chance [of winning the title].

"I look at the last-minute goals, and it could be a good thing, it could be a bad thing.

"Those games can sometimes easily go the other way. It feels like every game has to go to the wire.

"That's the only thing I'd say about Arsenal watching them this season. It doesn't feel like any game is easy.

On the goalkeeper position, he added: "They are the two things [the goalkeeper and the last-minute goals] that are making me think Arsenal won't win the league.

"I can't think of many teams, if ever, who have won a league title without a goalkeeper being a big part of it and I just look at the goalkeeper situation, and it doesn't feel right."

The Gunners have scored winners in the final five minutes of regular time or later against Luton, Brentford and Manchester City since the beginning of October.

And while some may point to the stamina and physical attributes of Arteta's side to strike at such late stages, it may also be argued that the Gunners could make games more comfortable for themselves.

Overall, though, Arsenal have scored only three fewer goals at this stage of the season compared to last season, and have picked up only one less point.
