Arsenal set insane English football record that may never be beaten with Crystal Palace demolition

An impressive achievement.

Arsenal made English football history with their emphatic 5-1 win over Crystal Palace as Mikel Arteta's side moved up to third in the Premier League ladder.

The Gunners cruised to victory at Selhurst Park as goals from Gabriel Jesus [2], Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice sealed another three points on the road.

It means Arsenal are ten games without defeat heading into their final game of the year against Ipswich Town.

In fact, they are now unbeaten in Premier League London derbies this calendar year, which wasn't been done since Chelsea won nine and drew one in 2005.

But perhaps more impressively, Arsenal became the first top-flight side in English football history to score five or more goals in six different away games in a calendar year following the win over Crystal Palace.

It is a record that has been praised by many on social media.

One fan wrote: "Not bad for a team that can’t attack," while another commented: "How many from corners? That's what the rival fans care about."

A third said: "Yet some characters said the team needs a striker the most. I don’t think so. I trust Arteta."

A fourth wrote: "They called Arteta a defensive manager... because of injuries," and a fifth added: "The Stoke City team. People can be clueless."

Mikel Arteta outlined Arsenal's title ambitions following their latest win.

“We certainly want it [the title] but we have to show it for 10 months,” he said. “The demands are incredible. To play every three days for 12, 13 weeks like we are demanding is absolutely crazy.

"We are trying our best but unfortunately, today, again, we lost players [to injury], it’s happening to every team, but we’re certainly trying.

When prodded on whether his side are now in a title race, Arteta said: “We’re not even half way but we’re going to try certainly. For us, it’s on.”

He added: “We’ve done the job, we’re in a really good run at the moment, even though we drew two games in the Premier League that we fully deserved to win. It’s about the next one. That’s it. I’m going to enjoy more my Christmas now with my family because when you win, it’s always better.”
