Arsenal fan unable to recognise current first team player as squad leave London hotel

A slightly awkward moment

An Arsenal fan was unable to identify one of the club's first team players as the squad left a hotel in London.

The Gunners defeated Brighton 2-0 on Sunday after goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.

The result took Mikel Arteta's side up to the top of the Premier League table, a position they maintained as a result of Liverpool's 0-0 draw with United.

In footage posted on Sunday, several Arsenal stars, including Declan Rice and Oleksandr Zinchenko, were filmed leaving a Hilton Hotel in London.

They were followed by a third player, defender Cedric Soares.

However, one Arsenal fan had trouble working out who the Portugal right-back was - as you can see in the clip below.

The supporter shouted out: "Who's that?" as the defender walked past - although is it worth noting that the other people surrounding the hotel did recognise all three players.

Cedric has played just two games for the Gunners this season, with the most recent of those seeing him play 60 minutes as part of a much-changed Arsenal side in their 1-1 draw with PSV last week.

His other appearance was a four-minute cameo in the Carabao Cup victory over Brentford in September.

The 32-year-old did appear likely to exit the Emirates Stadium in January, although the recent injury suffered by Takehiro Tomiyasu could change those plans.

But according to ESPN, via sources, Spanish club Villarreal are keen on signing the Portugal defender in January and are expected to open talks over a transfer. Unnamed Turkish clubs are also reportedly interested.

Cedric's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires next summer, meaning he can discuss a pre-contract deal with European clubs starting from next month.

However, it is said to remain unclear as to whether Arsenal want him to depart in January or if they are keen to keep him until the end of the season to cover defensive injuries.
