Mikel Arteta slammed by ex-Arsenal youngster's brother for failing their youth players

Mikel Arteta slammed by ex-Arsenal youngster's brother for failing their youth players

The ex Arsenal star's brother caused a stir with his Instagram post after Arsenal's defeat to Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta has been slammed by a former Arsenal youngster's brother for failing the club's youth players.

Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round after losing 2-0 against Liverpool on Sunday.

The Gunners dominated the first half and had chances aplenty but were beaten at the Emirates courtesy of an own goal from Jakub Kiwior and a late strike from Luis Diaz.

It was a third consecutive loss for the Gunners, who fielded close to a full-strength side.

And that promoted Oshayne Hutchinson, brother of ex Arsenal academy player Omari, to vent on social media.

The 20-year-old signed a professional contract with Arsenal in 2020 but never made a first-team appearance - making the bench against Nottingham Forest in January 2022.

He left for Chelsea on a free that summer and played twice for the Blues last term.

Hutchinson is currently on loan at Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town but his sibling couldn't resist a dig at his old side.

He pointed out that while youngsters were involved for the likes of Spurs, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, it wasn't the case for Arsenal.

Oshayne used it as a key factor for why Hutchinson left and called for Arteta to "free the guys" playing in the academy.

He wrote: "Some people owe my brother an apology. All the abuse and hate he received from when he left Arsenal. I hope you guys are all seeing why.

"I feel sorry for Arsenal youth man. Free the guys."

Youth products Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson, Emile-Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah were involved for Arsenal but Oshayne appeared to be referring to the next generation not getting a go.

Youngsters Ethan Nwaneri, Lino Sousa and Reuell Walters were unused substitutes.

On the opposite side both Conor Bradley and Bobby Clark were introduced by Jurgen Klopp in the second half.
