Arsenal fans are confused by Aaron Ramsdale’s cryptic Instagram amid the goalkeeper being linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Ramsdale has been linked with a move away from north London, having had his place between the sticks usurped by David Raya this season.

Raya, whose loan move from Brentford is expected to be made permanent this summer, has restricted Ramsdale to just six appearances in all competitions.

In turn, the England shot-stopper has been lined with a transfer, with reports on Friday indicating he was on the cusp of agreeing a deal to join Newcastle next term.

Sky Sports’ James Green alleged he had heard directly from Ramsdale's representatives that a proposed switch to St James’ Park was set to be finalised.

“That’s come directly through speaking to somebody I’m very close with who is close with his agent and he says it’s done, ” he told the Highbury Squad. “The deal is happening.”

Ramsdale, however, was quick to dispel such rumours on social media, writing alongside a laughing emoji: “News to me”.

Yet, the shot-stopper’s future is certainly shrouded in uncertainty, with his latest Instagram post having sparked speculation among several Arsenal fans.

Upon being sent Birkenstocks by Arsenal Womens star Lotte Wubben-Moy, Ramsdale shared her picture of a note graffitied on the shoes’ box.

It read: “Aaron. Gutted I won’t get the chance to see you wearing these at the training ground. Comfiest things in the world. Enjoy. Catch you around.”

Arsenal fans have been quick to infer from the note that Ramsdale is certain to depart the Gunners this summer.

One person said: “Looks like Ramsdale defo off then.”

Another added: “Is Wubben-Moy leaving? If not, I think Ramsdale may have messed up putting this video on his story after his tweet yesterday…”

A third wrote: “Ramsdale is really leaving Arsenal.”
