Fans have taken to social media to call Argentina's game vs Morocco "rigged" after seeing the added time in the Olympic clash.

The two sides met at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Group B of the football tournament, with Morocco leading 2-0 courtesy of a Soufiane Rahimi brace either side of half-time.

With Javier Mascherano managing and the likes of Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Otamendi in the ranks, Argentina are one of the favourites for the competition.

They pulled one back through Giuliano Simeone in the 68th minute before scoring what they thought was a last-gasp equaliser through Cristian Medina after an almighty scramble at the death.

Incredibly, the leveller came in the 16th minute of stoppage time - with the added on amount leaving heads scratched.

It got heated at the final whistle as Morocco fans reportedly stormed the pitch and threw noise bombs at the Argentina players.

The 15 minutes added on appears to be following FIFA's recent rule change but left TV commentators were left baffled and thought it was an error.

Fans wasted no time developing their own theories and venting on social media.

One wrote: "Added time: until Argentina score*."

Another said: "Argentina Morocco Olympic game 15 minutes added time that’s mental, back to Qatar World Cup added times."

A third fumed: "Sorry but 15 minutes of added time in Argentina vs. Morocco is not just egregious, but scandalous."

Another user added: "Argentina acc has no credibility in any international tournament. 15 minutes added time in a group stage game??"

A final person admitted: "I'm Argentinian and there is no way in hell there should have been 15 minutes of stoppage time in this game. Beyond happy but there needs to be an investigation ASAP."

However, in a bizarre twist, over an hour after the final whistle, the game resumed without any fans in an unprecedented move.

The referee went to VAR to review the goal and deemed Medina to have been offside, chalking off the strike before three minutes of play ensued.

There were no further goals and so Morocco claimed a huge win.

Next up for Argentina is a game against Iraq on Saturday, with Morocco coming up against Ukraine.
