Fans left stunned after finding out Antoine Griezmann's ridiculously low release clause in Atletico Madrid contract

The France star could be snapped up in a bargain deal.

Fans cannot believe how much Antoine Griezmann would cost this summer after discovering the ridiculously low release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract.

Griezmann was one of the standout players in La Liga in 2023-24, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists as Atletico Madrid finished fourth in the table.

The 33-year-old has resurrected his career in the Spanish capital after spending an underwhelming couple of seasons at Barcelona.

Griezmann returned to Atleti on loan in 2021 before the club made the move permanent for just €20 million (plus add-ons) a year later.

The Frenchman penned a four-year contract until 2026, although it appears the deal contains an astonishingly low release clause.

According to L'Equipe, Griezmann could be snapped up for as as little as €15m (£12.8m) this summer, even though he still has two years remaining on his contract.

A number of Premier League clubs are said to be monitoring the situation, while MLS and Saudi Pro League sides are also interested.

Last year the 2018 World Cup winner admitted that he could one day move Stateside, saying: "Beyond Europe, what I would like later is MLS. I have always recognised that. But Atletico will be almost one hundred percent my last club in Europe. It's where I want to be, where I see myself happiest and here I am at home."

Griezmann has been included in the France squad for Euro 2024 this summer, but during a press conference this week he was asked about his club future.

"I have had offers and calls but I have been clear – I want to stay at Atletico," the attacker said.

"I made a lot of effort to come back and be accepted. I want it to be my last club in Europe.

"I want to continue at Atlético, that's where I want to be, where I want to end up in Europe, it's a pride for me to be there."

On X, one football fan commented "that's a steal at that price," while another wrote "Man United get to work!"
