At 39-years-old, Zlatan Ibrahimovic might be starting to think about what will come next for him when he finishes his playing career.

Known for his outlandish claims and maverick presence, it might be difficult for the AC Milan forward to see himself taking the well-worn manager or pundit route.

For one, he'd probably get taken off the air within a week as a pundit.

It seems like the Sweden international might have been thinking the same thing recently, with the breaking news that he will be making his acting debut in the near future.

According film magazine Deadline, Ibrahimovic will be making his feature film bow in the upcoming production of Asterix and Obelisk: The Middle Kingdom. It is the fifth in the well known series of French-language films.

Zlatan himself announced the news on Twitter today. He will be playing a character called Antivirus alongside a host of Hollywood regulars.

The movie is directed by Guillaume Canet - who also stars as Asterix, with Gilles Lellouche as Obelisk. In addition, Vincent Cassel, of Ocean's 12 fame, is Cesar, and Marion Cotillard, of Inception, Batman, and many, many more, is Cleopatra.

Ramzy Bedia, Julie Chen, Linh-Dan Pham, and Pierre Richard fill the other featured roles, with filming set to take place in France and Morocco after a plan to do so in China was scuppered.

Ibrahimovic is following in a long tradition of footballers going into acting, with Vinnie Jones in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, Frank Lebouf in The Theory Of Everything, and, of course most famously of all, Chris Kamara in Emmerdale.

For now, AC Milan supporters will hope that Ibrahimovic's move into acting won't distract him from their efforts to qualify for the Champions League.

They are currently second in Serie A, four points ahead of fifth placed Napoli.
