Liverpool's Transfer Business Since Michael Edwards Became Sporting Director Is Incredible

Edwards has excelled in his role since 2016.

Liverpool's incredible transfer business over the last few years has come thanks to one man in particular - sporting director Michael Edwards.

The Reds have had a slow summer transfer window but reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for Thiago on Thursday.

It is believed the club will pay £20 million for the Spaniard with clauses potentially taking it to £26m.

A fan on Twitter pointed out that is just £1m higher than Bournemouth paid Liverpool for Dominic Solanke back in January 2019.

Liverpool of 2020 are a far cry from the Liverpool that spent £35m on Andy Carroll on deadline day back in 2011.

A lot of that can be traced back to Edwards, who became sporting director in 2016.

Liverpool have gone on to become Premier League and European Champions in that time while keeping their net spend moderately low compared to 'big six' rivals.

Check out the transfers the club have made under his guidance below.
