Manchester United players couldn't help but embrace Jesse Lingard prior to kick-off this evening and it's incredibly heartwarming.

Lingard is currently on loan at West Ham and wasn't eligible to feature in this evening's game at Old Trafford.

He was still in attendance however and stood in the tunnel as players went to prepare for the game.

Fred, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay are among the players who let on, but Bruno Fernandes went above and beyond by giving the 28-year-old a hug.

Despite falling out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his final few months at United, it's clear to see Lingard is still loved by his teammates.

Fans have reacted to the footage and they think it's one of the most wholesome things they've seen this season.

Fernandes has always had a soft spot for Lingard and even defended the England international last season.

Lingard scored on the final day of last season against Leicester City and Fernandes told MUTV: "Of course after when Leicester are behind they try to attack because they need to score twice but we did very well, we defend well and you see in the last minute we never stop the fight and Jesse is doing an amazing job.

"Of course it's a mistake from the keeper also but if Jesse doesn't go there the goal doesn't come so it's for this we work.

"For me Jesse deserved this goal because of what he works for all week, for all the comments everyone is saying about him and other players because they don't play too much or they don't play good enough.

"I think this is the reason Jesse scored because we're training hard, training hard to help all the team."

United and West Ham are currently 0-0 at the break.
