Ronaldo moved to Juventus in 2018 after nine years with Real Madrid, where he won multiple La Liga titles and Champions Leagues.

Ronaldo burst onto the world stage as a winger but has played more centrally in recent years, with this chronic knee issue the mooted reason.

The injury is described as 'degeneration' rather than 'inflammation' which means the Portuguese international's knee condition will worsen every time he uses it.
