Conspiracy Theory Claims The World Will End On Sunday - When Liverpool Could Win The Premier League

This is not the news Liverpool fans will want to hear ahead of the Premier League's restart...

A conspiracy theory has sensationally claimed the world could end this Sunday - the day Liverpool could win their first ever Premier League title.

Liverpool are currently 25 points clear at the top of the league and it is almost a certainty they will be crowned champions.

The coronavirus pandemic brought the season to a standstill in March but it will resume this week.

However, the 2012 conspiracy has come back with a vengeance and apparently we are all doomed on Sunday.

Scientist Paolo Tagaloguin recently explained on Twitter: "Following the Julian Calendar, we are technically in 2012.

"The number of days lost in a year due to the shift into Gregorian Calendar is 11 days.

"For 268 years using the Gregorian Calendar (1752-2020) times 11 days = 2,948 days. 2,948 days / 365 days (per year) = 8 years".

This means June 21 is actually December 21, the day in 2012 our world was predicted to end.

Liverpool could theoretically become champions that day if Manchester City lose to Arsenal on Wednesday and then Liverpool defeat Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp and his side, as well as the rest of us who don't want the world to end for that matter, can breathe a sigh of relief thanks to NASA.

"The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth," the space agency claimed per Happymag.

"This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012 and linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 - hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012.

"For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is the science? Where is the evidence?

"There is none, and for all the fictional assertions, whether they are made in books, movies, documentaries or over the Internet, we cannot change that simple fact.

"There is no credible evidence for any of the assertions made in support of unusual events taking place in December 2012."

Liverpool fans can sleep comfortably for the rest of this week knowing their first ever Premier League title can't be stopped by anything else.

Only failing to win any of their final nine games could stop them, but that is extremely unlikely.
