With Barcelona reportedly facing bankruptcy, it's been revealed their first-team squad pick up an incredible £235m a year in wages.

Reports in Spain say Barca need to trim their crippling wage bill by £170m.

It means his average wage works out at around £988,000 per week, with bonus payments reaching as much as £13m a year.

Catalan radio station RAC1 claim Barca have begun negotiations with their players over a 30% wage reduction. However, these terms need to be agreed by Thursday November 5 or the threat of bankruptcy in January is a major possibility.

Barca's income has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. But the club's finances continue to spiral out of control with losses of £88m announced in early October.

Tusquets stated: "The pandemic has affected Barcelona particularly hard. The club depends on tourism and now, all of that income has been lost.

"The situation is not very comfortable, we have to take on the ideas of the previous board to find a way of addressing the problems we are facing."
