Florentino Perez Wants Real Madrid To 'Focus' On Signing Man United Star After Failing To Land Him In Summer

Florentino Perez Wants Real Madrid To 'Focus' On Signing Man United Star After Failing To Land Him In Summer

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani was named as a potential Real Madrid target alongside Radamel Falcao and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to make a move for Manchester United star Edinson Cavani after failing to land him in the summer window.

Cavani arrived at Old Trafford last season and made 39 appearances across all competitions and scored 17 times.

The 34-year-old United striker was linked with a move away at the end of last season amid his father’s claim that he could play for a team in South America.

However, Cavani penned a contract extension with United in May and will see his current deal expire in 2022.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli star is now competing for minutes at United against Cristiano Ronaldo, who left Juventus in the summer to complete a sensational return to Old Trafford.

According to El Nacional, Madrid believe that they can lure Cavani to Spain and will consider a January move for him if he pushes for an exit from Old Trafford.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is believed to be an admirer of the Uruguay international and wanted to sign him on a loan deal in August.

Los Blancos also considered Radamel Falcao, who signed for Rayo Vallecano earlier this month, and Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as other potential targets.

However, Aubameyang and Falcao are considered ‘already very difficult’ to acquire for Madrid and the Spanish club ‘will focus on Cavani.’

Cavani has made three appearances for United this season as the Madrid target has been recovering from injury.

The United star came off the bench on Wednesday in the Red Devils’ sensational 2-1 comeback win over Villarreal in the Champions League.

Cavani’s second-half cameo impressed fans at Old Trafford with his immense work rate and effort as United pushed for the eventual late winner in their important Champions League tie.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will now return to Premier League action on Saturday against Everton at Old Trafford.
