How to create a private league in Fantasy Premier League

Fantasy football is back!

Crystal Palace host Arsenal this evening in what will be the return of the Premier League to our screens and will also mean the start of a new year of fantasy football!

The online game is a perfect way of keeping involved with the ins and outs of the Premier League season and opens up opportunities for healthy competition and bragging rights with your friends.

The app had its most popular year to date last campaign, with over 8 million active users throughout the season.

This year of FPL looks set to be better than ever with many new superstars being introduced to the league, including Erling Haaland, Darwin Nunez, Kalidou Koulibaly and many more!

As we quickly approach the FPL deadline for gameweek 1, here’s everything you need to know about joining a league, if you haven’t already.

After creating your squad, managers can both join and create a league. As a user you can join up to 25 invitational leagues and a maximum of 5 public leagues which is 20 randomly assigned teams.

Creating your own league is a perfect way to battle against your friends, families or coworkers, and here is a step by step guide on how to do so from your computer browser or mobile.

  1. Log in to FPL
  2. Pick a team
  3. Scroll down to find ‘League and Cups’ tab
  4. You’ll be taken through to a page that says ‘Join a League and Cup’ or ‘Create a League and Cup’
  5. Click ‘Create a League and Cup’
  6. Choose if you would like a Classic Scoring FPL League (most common option) or a Head-to-Head Scoring FPL league
  7. You’re done!

If you’re using the app:

  1. Open Premier League app
  2. Go to ‘Fantasy Section’
  3. Scroll down to ‘Configure Leagues Via FPL’
  4. Click on this tab and follow steps 5-7 from above!
