Anthony Gordon absolutely loved his return to Newcastle with Everton, their fans are furious

Anthony Gordon left Everton for Newcastle United during the January transfer window

Everton fans were not impressed with the way Anthony Gordon celebrated Newcastle United’s win on his return to Goodison Park.

After breaking through to the first team at Everton, Gordon’s performances attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle.

During the January transfer window, Gordon left Everton and moved to St. James’ Park in a deal worth a reported £45 million.

Everton fans were left unhappy with the manner of Gordon’s exit after it was reported that he refused to train prior to the transfer.

On Thursday night, Gordon was part of the Newcastle squad that convincingly won 4-1 at Goodison Park.

Gordon was substituted on in the 87th minute to a chorus of boos from the Everton fans.

After the match, Gordon angered the Toffees fanbase even more with his celebration.

The 22-year-old was seen clapping with a huge smile on his face and was later captured cheering and fist-pumping in the tunnel.

Everton fans were quick to slam Gordon on social media.

One said: “Anthony Gordon you massive rat. Never a blue.”

Another tweeted: “The cheek of Anthony Gordon to smile and laugh as he's being brought on.”

A third fan added: “Not a fan of Gordon’s antics after the match. poor from the lad.”

During his post-match press conference, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe spoke about the decision to bring Gordon on.

He said: “I’m guessing it was difficult for him. I had a chat with him at length yesterday and he was confident he’d be able to handle the environment after speaking to him.

“I think it was a good time to bring him on, to almost get it out of the way for him really, it’s played, it’s done. At that stage the game was pretty much over but I think mentally it was a really good thing for him to deal with mentally and hopefully he’ll move on now and focus on his career for us.”
