Luis Suarez says Erling Haaland is the best number nine at the moment

Luis Suarez says Erling Haaland is the best number nine at the moment

Haaland's goal scoring exploits make him the in form player in the world right now and the former Liverpool striker thinks he's the best.

Erling Haaland scored yet another hat-trick on Sunday afternoon and Liverpool legend Luis Suarez claimed the Manchester City striker is the best number nine around right now.

Haaland scored his third hat-trick of the season as City absolutely battered local rivals Manchester United, picking up a third match ball in just eight Premier League games.

Certainly it was an extremely impressive performance by the Norwegian, who also picked up two assists for Phil Foden, who also completed a hat-trick.

The three goals and two assists earned the 22-year-old a perfect rating from L'Equipe, who have only handed it out on 14 previous occasions.

Other plaudits have poured in for the City striker, with John Terry even claiming that the striker could end up being the best ever player in England's top tier.

Whilst it might be a stretch to suggest Haaland will end up being the greatest ever, his form makes him undoubtedly one of the best in the world right now.

Commenting on Instagram, former Liverpool striker Suarez certainly believes so, saying "Congratulations my friend! Amazing game for you! Best number 9 at the moment."

Suarez is pretty accustomed to knowing what a hot streak in the Premier League is like, having previously scored 31 times in a season for Liverpool in the past.

The new man in town looks set to surpass that and the record held by Mohamed Salah for the most goals in a 38 game season, which is 32 goals.

Whilst City's summer striker addition has sauntered into the country and hit the ground running, in a hell of a fashion, the same can't be said of Liverpool's.

The Reds broke their transfer record to bring the forward in but the former Benfica striker has only scored one goal, on the opening day of the season, and has as many red cards, after getting sent off against Crystal Palace.

Suarez has given his fellow countryman a warning about his future conduct, telling him to make sure there isn't another chance to send him off.

"Don’t give them any more chances, it’ll only get worse.

"Darwin is someone who listens a lot. He is very smart that way and I think he will try to turn this situation around, it’s not a big deal, we have all made mistakes, we have all been sent off.

"The problem is that he’s only just arrived over there and in England, to put it lightly, they make a big deal out of everything."

Haaland on the other hand is clearly impressing Suarez, and everyone else in fairness, but how many records will he be setting?
